What a great week I have had!
Wednesday began the first of a two part class I taught at Kniticality, my LYS. The subject was the use of steek stitches and knitting in the round in general.
The idea was the students would start the class project, a button closed cowl which uses a steek to create the opening.
As they were working away, I led a discussion on what a steek was and how it could be used to create a garment with no seams and almost no purling.
Next week, if everyone is ready, we will meet to actually cut the steeks, pick up the stitches on the edges for the ribbing, and discuss securing the steek before and after cutting.
The class pattern includes instructions for both a stranded and a single color cowl. The good news is all of the class selected the stranded version! Made my day. Thanks to Amy at Kniticality for making it happen.
