8.27.14 - Rosheen Cowl and Mitts

Today, I have been reading some of the other blogs in the Louet’s Fall 2014 Collection blog tour. It’s a lovely set of patterns, if you haven’t seen it yet.

My contribution reflects my love of color and hopefully shows off the wonderful clarity and vibrancy of the Louet’s Gems yarn line.

The Rosheen Cowl and Mitts set.

What do you see? ...besides the gorgeous photos by Caro Sheridan.

What do you see when you look at the design? A colorful cowl and mitts set perfect for those cool-ish nights in early Fall? A set that can translate to the colder weather and be a splash of color on one of those winter days when the world needs a bit of cheering up? A set of color work projects that can show off your skill at knitting in color?

Or maybe you see a project that appears too difficult for you to accomplish? I beg you to look again.

Most of the pattern repeats are small and easy to manage. But what about the larger ones, you say. Here's a tip....place a marker between the stitch repeats. Then all you have to worry about is the stitches between the markers.

All  of the motifs are charted and symmetrical. The shaping for the cowl is accomplished uniformly across designated rounds….much like the construction of a yoked sweater. The shaping for the thumb for mitts occurs in the single color section. See, not so difficult. You can do that, right?
Ready to give it a try? How ‘bout if I said you could get the pattern for free? Just leave a comment on this blog and tell me when you discovered stranded knitting.

Be sure to include your Ravelry ID, so I can give the pattern to you, if you win. I’ll choose the winner on September 10th.

Don’t forget to visit the rest of the stops on the blog tour!
